NanoWhat? Website Goes Live

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I’ve just finished work on the NanoWhat? website.  It was built for East Midlands Development Agency and Nottingham University to promote education in nanotechnology with school children. There are some really interesting little bits in there, and my favourite is the Invent! section (opens in a new window) where you can create your own nano invention that will be included on the website (if it’s good enough.)

Take a look around (opens in a new window) and see if you don’t learn a thing or two!The site was built in Wordpress with some custom plugins and a helluva lot of wrangling and bespoke development.  Most of the clever bits are handled with jQuery including the zoomer in the nano quiz section and all the image slides.

The site accompanies a yearly event in the East Midlands to promote learning in Science Technology English and Maths and they have some really interesting and engaging activities, so if you’re a teacher in the East Midlands, make sure you’re there next year!
